Heavy Rains Trigger Flash Floods in Dehradun’s Sahastradhara; Two Still Missing

Heavy overnight rains led to flash floods in Dehradun’s Sahastradhara area, damaging homes, shops, and roads. Two people are reported missing as rescue teams continue search operations.

The Incident

According to local reports, a sudden cloudburst in Sahastradhara late Monday night made small rivers and streams overflow. Within hours, water rushed into low-lying areas, creating chaos in several parts of Dehradun city.

Areas Hit

Tapovan and the IT Park zone were among the worst affected. Many houses were submerged, while hotels and shops near Sahastradhara suffered major losses. The Dehradun–Haridwar highway also faced damage after a bridge collapsed.

Missing People

Two people have been reported missing after the sudden Uttarakhand flash floods. Police, SDRF, and NDRF teams are searching for them with the help of local residents.

Government Response

District officials quickly reached the affected areas. Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said the state government is monitoring the situation and providing full support to the rescue teams. Relief camps have also been set up to help the affected families.

Current Situation

Normal life in Dehradun remains disturbed. Many roads are blocked, some shops are closed, and several families have been shifted to safer locations. Authorities have asked people to avoid visiting Sahastradhara tourist area until the situation comes under control.
